Las Rozas de Madrid: EIT urban mobility's Raptor Project
As part of the EIT Urban Mobility Raptor Project, AIPECRA was deployed in Las Rozas de Madrid to improve pedestrian accessibility and enhance urban mobility. The system utilized advanced AI algorithms and high-resolution imaging to identify and classify barriers impacting pedestrian safety and accessibility. These included faded or missing crosswalk markings, the presence of steps without accompanying ramps, and physical obstacles blocking pathways.
AIPECRA provided precise geolocated data for each identified issue, enabling city planners to prioritize interventions effectively. This targeted approach ensured that resources were directed to areas with the most urgent needs, such as installing ramps, repainting crosswalks, or removing obstructions. By addressing these barriers, the project improved pedestrian safety and mobility, particularly benefiting individuals with reduced mobility or those using strollers or wheelchairs.
The success of the initiative in Las Rozas highlights the transformative potential of AI-driven solutions like AIPECRA in creating more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable urban environments. The project not only addressed immediate accessibility challenges but also demonstrated how data-driven technologies can empower cities to plan for long-term improvements, aligning with broader goals of urban innovation and inclusivity.

📢 Laboratory Of Key Innovations - LOKI s.r.l. had the pleasure of participating in the “Fly Your Research to Space” event, organized by Politecnico di Torino, on November 6, 2024.

During the event, the LOKI team was available to discuss our approach and the technical challenges we're facing in developing the Asfalto Sicuro® and AIPECRA solutions, projects that combine artificial intelligence and satellite data to enhance infrastructure safety and efficiency.

AIPECRA,is an innovative solution that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to identify and catalog the accessibility and safety of pedestrian crossings. By utilizing high-resolution cameras and IMU sensors, the system identifies obstacles like ramps and gaps, ensuring all citizens can easily cross the streets.
🎯 Final Customers: The citizens of Las Rozas, with a particular focus on people with reduced mobility but also other sensitive users like mothers with strollers.
